this was sold as a Chrysler in Canada, no one knows why. Also the intrepid, dynasty and later neons were all chryslers.

The Asuna Sunfire, the whole marque was 1993 only. Canada Only.

If I recall correctly, the surviving Frontenacs are maybe in the dozens if that. And yet, one made it to LeMons, I’ve seen another as a gasser, etc. etc. Not a car to become a ridiculously prized collector’s item anytime soon - though what a spectacular grill and hubcaps it had...

think I’ve seen two ever. A minty 2 door driven by a very elderly couple when I was little, and a ratty sedan delivery that was running around town when I was in highschool. Haven’t seen one in years, and I see Beaumonts and Meteors all the time.

a fully dressed out gt weighs in at 2070 lbs. and a v8 and 4 speed will fit. so minus everything, a shell ought to weigh 1400? add in 600 for engine and 100 for trans. thats 2100 lbs?

there was a “surviving” one in sakatoon at insurance auction a few years ago, It waited over 40 years to catch fire. I’d call that a survivor. The Firenza introduced the class action lawsuit to Canada. At a protest with 10 firenzas present two of ten caught fire AT THE PROTEST. These cars are gone but not forgotten, in a bad way.

owning cars like those help you to learn to prepare...... bet the owners of those burn victim firenzas keep a fire extinguisher in whatever car they own these days.

kinda like when you go to a scrap yard, and you can tell that the owner had an issue with whatever it was...... like maybe the electrics have a dozen add in fuses, or five fuel filters...... that 20lb fire extinguisher strapped to the floor isnt just there for looks

Had a carb fire in my malibu, had extingusher under seat. Beat out fire with shirt, put shirt back on. that’s how you do it.

ive used dirt, off the side of the driveway. some of those chem fires get nasty in a hurry, like brake fluid. im all about the shirt extinguisher too, or the ice chest, but modern fuel injection would be another story. i been meaning to get ahold of a good extinguisher, something big, hasnt happened yet.

and the asuna sunrunner, which begat the pontiac sunrunner, which sold alongside the firefly, saw something called a pontiac sunburst once, no idea what it actually was. There were also the early mercury bobcats before they went to America, two completely different cars called the plymouth caravelle made at the same time with virtually no common parts, and apparently the parts bin special dodge demon and plymouth scamp were created by Chrysler Canada. and of course the legendary Iraqi Taxi (I owned one briefly) http://jalopnik.com/this-chevy-mal… the car pictured is not an Iraqi taxi.
